Recent Chapter Activities
FE Exam Registration
During the past fall semester, the chapter organized, for the first time, an FE Exam Registration Day where they helped students (from all departments within the School of Engineering) fill out application forms, had a photographer take their picture, had a notary public sign their applications, and mailed the applications. This event offered one-stop shopping for the applicants. By bringing all of the elements of the application process together, the chapter helped 66 students to efficiently complete their application.
FE Exam Review Sessions
Each spring semester, the members of Chi Epsilon organize review sessions for the Fundamentals of Engineeering (FE) Exam. This involves developing a schedule for the sessions, identifying and soliciting faculty to serve as volunteer instructors, and advertising the sessions.
During the Spring 2007 semester, ten exam review sessions were organized.
Resume Book for Career Fair
Periodically, Chi Epsilon has assembled resume books for distribution at the Rensselaer Career Fairs. The books exclusively contain resumes of Chi Epsilon members.
Technical Tours for Junior/Senior Level Courses
The chapter has organized technical tours for junior and senior level courses. Most recently, a tour of a precast concrete plant was organized for the senior-level concrete design course.
Publication of Transit Article
During the fall semester of each year, the Associate Editor of the chapter writes a chapter activity report for publication in the “Transit,” a biannual publication of Chi Epsilon. The report describes recent activities of the chapter and lists new members and officers.
Organization of Membership Banquets
Each spring semester, the chapter officers organize and participate in the membership banquet.
This involves preparing for the initiation ceremony and hosting a guest speaker.
